Ouchies.

For those who have the esteemed privilege of having me on their MSN contact list, you would probably have noticed that my nick for the past 24 hours or so was "weiming / has had a bad, bad week". Well it's really no exaggeration. I got owned by my Marketing quiz, and Stats midterms wasn't too much better. All that was topped off by major LTB disappointment on Friday. But well, it's all over.

SMU Rugby had its 2nd match today, against NUS, and we were really expecting to be steamrollered by them, judging by the number of national age-group and open team members that they had. Add on the fact that they'd been training 3 times as often and 3 times harder than we'd been, and you'd a recipe for a mauling. But the team acquitted ourselves more than adequately - in fact the NUS coach came over and congratulated us on a superb performance given our circumstances - in only losing 34-7. It may seem like a big margin, but it really wasn't, and we dominated much of the 2nd half, too. Really a performance worth shouting about, after being written off at the start of the tournament even by ourselves, as mere walkovers. Next year will be better though, now that we've finally got off the mark in terms of games, with the (hopefully) higher profile that we've got, more players will be attracted over here. Plus, we're getting more funding!

I'll skip the rant about how SMU doesn't give adequate support and funding to its sports clubs (less its 'favourites', the water polo team and the frisbee team), since it's a pretty well known fact. Also skipped is the 'lack of sports facilities' rant.

Anyway, shan't write too much. My head hurts from a clash with a certain 90+kg hunk of meat and muscle that is Ravi Shankar, and I'm starting to feel giddy. Next up though, Waikiki tomorrow, and Desaru on tuesday. Woot.
