Universiti Pengurusan Singapura Ragbi

Today a friend of mine told me quite unexpectedly that he reads (or read, don't know which) my blog, and proceeded to inform me that my writing style was rather endearing, much like a 15-year old GEP. Which is some sort of compliment, I suppose, if you're a 14-year old GEP. I, however, am 21 going on 22, and my GEP roots are reasonably well-hidden, so I really hope none of you think the same way.

I've also recently tried out the SMU gym, and I must say I'm nothing short of impressed. It really is the best gym I've ever used by some measure, and this not only applies to the standard of the err, machines. I'm pretty sure too, that per square foot, the SMU gym has the largest number of hot girls. Heh. Not that I'm there to attract the girls, really, I'm only working out for the sake of my sport. Really!

Anyway, one of the main reasons why I'm training up (honestly) is because I've got a tournament coming up in February. Rugby, for the uninformed. And hey, I just realised that "uninformed" without an "n" is just "uniformed". But back to the point. We're up against NUS, NTU and some team called the Barbarians, which I presume consists of people living in Jurong. SMU Rugby has not trained since last term, which was like, 8 weeks ago? And even then, we'd got like 10 players down for each training session, on average. I'm not one of those 10. Anyway, what this means is that we're gonna get steamrollered by NUS and NTU, and quite possibly them Barbarians too, and I'm just training up so that even after losing 99-0, I can still look like a million bucks. See, all for the sake of my sport!

A note about our trainings though - it's so much better now, we've definitely got to have more than 10 people each time. While we used to train down at Turf City, which I'm pretty sure you have to travel through some portal that brings you through some space-time continuum that transports you out of our utopian paradise to another dimension (private joke, this) and lands you up in Malaysia. Not that there's anything bad about Malaysia of course, it's just.... OK fine it's TERRIBLE lah. At least now we're training in some abandoned school in Mountbatten, which is almost east, which therefore qualifies it as a better place. Well yes, it's abandoned school, but don't we all just love the quaint ol' abandoned places in the east? Old Changi Hospital... old barracks in Tekong... all possess that certain rustic charm. OK I've really started rambling already so I'll just stop. Toodles.
